Recommendation Requests Not Being Received

Follow

The recommendation request is issued in an email to each recommender when you click the button to send the request within your application. If your recommender isn't receiving the message, it is most often due to delivery settings in their email client. Keep in mind that for recommenders with an institutional address, (such as .edu or .org) the message will need to pass the institution's Spam filter before being tried against the specific recipient's spam filter. For institutional email addresses, your recommender may end up needing to seek assistance from their mail administrator.

The first thing we suggest is for the recommender (and the mail administrator, in the case of an institutional email address) to white list emails from "collegenet.com" and "applyweb.com". You can then re-send the link in a Reminder using the "Action" list box for the recommender in your Activity page:

If this doesn't work, your recommender is welcome to contact our support team directly, and we can manually send them the link they need to access the recommendation system. Be sure that they contact us using the email you've entered for your request, as we use the email they contact us with to search for any pending recommendation requests.

Lastly, if the institution you are applying to doesn't mind your recommender submitting with alternate address, you could try changing the recommender's email address to an alternate email they use. You can edit your recommender's address using the "Edit" option in the "Action" list box. If you edit a recommender's email, the original request will be canceled and a new request will be issued to the new email address when you save the change.
